Please note that these preemie dolls and micro-preemie dolls are custom made and all medically accurate life size portrait dolls.
These sculptures have been checked for accuracy by Physcians, N.I.C.U. Nurses, Dulas, and the parents of the real children they represent for accuracy in size, weight, detail and development for the gestational ages represented.
Parents have signed contracts allowing the artist to use their photos of their preemie and micropreemie babies, birth record information, footprint and hand print certificates and birth stories to authenticate each sculpture.

Each doll is a hand cast original sculpture made of collector doll quality resin.
Each started as an original hand sculpted clay portrait doll by the artist.

Each doll is made specifically to the birth measurements provided by the parents. Photos, photo CD's and web site images are used by the artist cross referecened with normal preemie birth charts and photos of preemies and micropreemies to insure that each of these models is an accurate
representation of a real baby at each
respective gestation.

The artist then made a silicone mold of each part of each doll.
Each part is hand cast in resin that is thermoset under pressure.
This process is dangerous and very time consuming, and sensitive to moist weather. Which means it cannot be done on a damp or high humidity day, or a high temperature day as the resin will not set well.
It is similar to the process of making a porcelain doll in the amount of time that it takes from sculpting the original doll to making the silicone mold to casting the resin.
Many steps are involved that take hours of completion.

(The resin used by this artist is not the same as the resin used in the figurines found in dollar stores) The resin used in that industry is not safe for casting in a home studio.

After the parts are cast, they are sanded and buffed, and hand painted.
The clothes are hand crafted by the women of our church.
Knit and crocheted items are hand crafted items also.
These dolls are a work of love and art.
The dolls represented on this site took the artist 10 years to research, sculpt, mold, cast and develop the process she uses.
The silicone molds only produce 25 castings before they break down.
Then new molds must be remade to replace them.
Silicone as a raw material cost $125.00 a gallon.
Resin cost $100.00 a gallon.
It takes a gallon of each to make a one pound doll.
The only way the artist will break even is if she sells enough dolls to cover her cost.
Like the process of porcelain doll making many times the castings are not usable.
Resin cannot be reused or recycled.
It is however the new medium of choice for serious doll artist who want to replicate very detailed sculptures.

NO rush orders are available.
Allow 8-10weeks for items on hand and in stock. Orders not in stock take more time as resin is a material that cannot be poured in rainy or humid weather.
